SJ Congresses

Two-day Social Justice Congresses

Tailored to suit, our Social Justice Congresses are conducted at the Institute and induct up to 50 people from a school, University, TAFE or workplace into social justice.  Participants are already part of a group or cohort and benefit from staying connected on a daily basis well after the Congress learnings. Outline: runs over consecutive Wednesdays &Thursdays - see also Calendar and Codes
(Each participant receives their own copy of three important SJ resources - RRP $40)

Day 1 (Wednesday)

  • Pooling what we already know about social justice;
  • Nominating SJ issues that most interest participants;
  • Input from ERISJ staff and expert presenters;
  • An hour’s designated home reading and reflection about SJ (after returning home);

Day 2 (Thursday)

  • Issue-based group discussions;
  • Expert presenter input;
  • Identifying possible Social Justice actions to undertake together; and
  • Resources to sustain the journey

If you are Perth-based, we strongly suggest both events, rather than one or the other. The two events are different – in fact, they are deliberately configured to complement each other. Around the world, a sequence of staggered, diverse yet coherent SJ induction has been repeatedly found to produce lasting SJ awareness and commitment to action.
