Tess’s interest in social justice began in high school. In year 11 she participated in the state UNYA (United Nations Youth Association) conference which simulated a mock United Nations general assembly. Also, she participated in a school Amnesty letter writing group.
Tess is currently studying a BA in Communications and English at UWA. She plans to study graduate law at Melbourne University, after completing her BA, so she can pursue her passion in human rights and international law. Melbourne has a strong research centre on international law and human rights in which she wants to pursue her own research.
At the ERISJ Tess is researching the human rights conventions of the UN which Australia has been a signatory of. She hopes to do a summary of all the conventions to provide a simple summary of what is trying to be conveyed. At the same time writing letters to the Australian Government reminding them of their obligations to the international conventions they have signed onto.
